How to Prove Frisco Residency and Sign Up for the FAC
The resident rate saves a single adult $289 a year on an annual plan. Here is exactly what to bring, who needs it and how joining works.
The resident rate is the single biggest money question in any Frisco Athletic Center membership: a non-resident adult pays $289 more a year on an annual plan. Getting it means showing the right documents, in the right combination, for every adult on the account. This guide explains the rules and walks through sign-up step by step. For the full rate table, see our Frisco Athletic Center membership guide.
Who counts as a Frisco resident
Residency is based on your physical address inside Frisco city limits. Two points catch people out:
- Schools do not count. Households outside city limits whose children attend Frisco schools are treated as non-residents.
- Mailing addresses can mislead. ZIP codes do not follow city boundaries exactly, so if you live near the edge of town, confirm your status with the FAC before you pay.
Documents the FAC accepts
The city's Memberships page asks for a current Texas driver license or Texas ID card in addition to one supporting document.
| Bring one of these… | …plus one of these |
|---|---|
| Current Texas driver license | Water or electric utility bill |
| Texas Identification Card | Car insurance |
| Apartment lease |
The Member Handbook words this slightly differently: it says a driver license must be combined with additional proof and lists a Texas State ID card, insurance, a utility bill or a lease agreement. Bringing an ID plus a supporting document satisfies both versions.
Make sure the supporting document shows the same Frisco address you are registering with, and is recent. If your license still shows an old address after a move, the second document is what proves where you live now.
Who has to show proof, and when
- Every member aged 18 or older, resident or non-resident, at first registration and again every 12 months.
- Adults who cannot show current proof cannot use the facility or be added to a membership, and are not activated until they do.
- For Family plans, all members must live at the same address and show proof of permanent residency there.
- Kids under 18 do not show residency documents, but every member aged 3 and older needs a photo on the account.
The Work in Frisco rate
If you live outside the city but work for a business or company in Frisco, you can get the resident rate on any FAC membership. Bring either a pay stub dated within the past month or an employer-issued ID badge with a date that shows you are currently employed. Employment is verified once a year. On a non-resident Couple annual plan that is a $346 saving ($1,039 versus $693), our calculation from the posted rates.
What happens if you cannot prove residency today
You can still join, but at a cost. If residency is not shown at registration, the non-resident fee applies for the current month and every month after until you provide proof. Money paid toward non-resident memberships is not refundable, so you will not get the difference back later. If you are mid-move, it is usually cheaper to buy a $15 day pass and wait for your first utility bill than to start on a non-resident plan.
Signing up, step by step
- Choose plan and billing Compare options in our membership prices and types guide. Three or more people at one address usually means Family.
- Collect documents for each adult ID plus a supporting document, or Work in Frisco proof.
- Register Online, use the "Join Today" link on the city's Memberships page, which leads to the City of Frisco registration portal. In person, go to Customer Service on the FAC's first floor.
- Pay in full Annual plans are paid up front; auto-draft takes the first month and then bills monthly.
- Photo and key tag Each member 3+ gets a photo on the account and a key tag. Tags are issued only once the photo is on file and residency is verified.
- Set up childcare, if needed The Play Depot uses KidCheck. Create an account at go.kidcheck.com and bring a photo ID, or attach a guardian photo to the KidCheck account.
Key tag rules after you join
Scan your key tag every time you enter. The handbook allows entry without a tag three times, each one a "strike". On the fourth, you must buy a replacement tag for $5 before you can enter. Sharing a membership card is treated as theft of service, and members are expected to tell staff promptly about address, phone or household changes.
City of Frisco employees
City staff enroll at the FAC membership desk with their employee badge. The city's HR page says processing takes about 48 hours, after which you get your photo taken and receive key tags at the front desk. Adding a spouse is $15 a month and a family $25 a month, and proof of residency is needed for household members over 18.
